IMDb Top 250: Overview (2019)


Top attraction of viewers is world war movies. There are 18 world war movies and most of them are enlisted in the top 100 actually.

There are at least 11 Indian movies made it in the list. No wonder our neighbor directors are producing really good movies, especially since 2010.  

For some unknown reasons, trilogy movies are so much successful, there are 9 trilogies in the list.

Animated movie lovers constitute a major opinion in the rating. There are 22 animated movies in the list. And Studio Ghibli is master of that, they have 7 movies in the current list.

Followed by WW2, Vietnam war is the main attraction of viewers and directors, as majority raters are American.

Following actors are in most titles:
Robert De Niro (9), Leonardo DiCaprio (8), Aamir Khan(6), Al Pacino (6), Tom Hanks (6), Morgan Freeman (6), Christian Bale(6), Brad Pitt (5), Clint Eastwood (5), Charlie Chaplin (5).

Nolan (8), Scorsese(8), Kubrick (7), Spielberg(7), Hitchcock (6), Tarantino(5), Billy Wilder(5), Kurosawa(5).

IMDb top 250 list does not always provide justice. There are at least 11 movies on the list now which made it in the list with the power of fan-base (Personal Opinion).

The top 250 list is dynamic, always new movies are being added and some are pushed out of the list, at least 10 movies have made its place in last 3 years.

Although the majority raters are American, the list is widely diverse irrespective of regions,era and genres. Famous movies from India, Turkey, Iran, Korea, Germany, Italy, Spain have taken place in the list as well as USA.  

Over 50 movies are made in black and white color.
